The Department of Labour recently provided Hon. Galmo Williams, Minister of Home Affairs and Public Safety, the Labour Administration Report 2006. This is the first such report meant to be a definitive statement on the state of Labour Administration in the Islands.
The Report to become "The Annual Report on Labour Administration" takes a look at the activities of Labour Administrators for the calendar year. We hope that the Minister would, annually beginning with this one, bring the report to the attention of the House of Assembly for discussion.
Being the baseline document this first report includes an introduction and short history of Labour Administration in TCI. Part II of the report outlines the Labour Administration's mandate, vision, mission and functions. Part III describes the organization and structure of our institution. Part IV, by far the largest part, delineates the objectives behind the services and reports on those services during the year. Part V (to be read in context - with Part I through Part IV in mind) gives current challenges and operational constraints along with some recommendations.
We await the House of Assembly's candid discussions of this report. |
